Mikel Cook, President of The Cook Group Inc., has served in the insurance industry for over 20 years. With a strong background in sales and marketing, he has developed a broad base of knowledge and industry experience focused on the group ancillary benefit market. For the last 15 years, he has built a niche general agency that specializes in ancillary products and Gap insurance strategies. Based in Texas, his agency has developed a network of agents and brokers across the country, offering innovative solutions and expert guidance to help them navigate the increasingly complex insurance landscape.

His agency’s ability to pivot quickly, a common strength of smaller GAs, allowed them to weather the storm of regulatory changes and emerge stronger.

Mikel reflects on the relationships he’s built with agents over the past 15 years, noting that more than 50% of the agents he works with today are the same ones he partnered with when he first started.
